Restaurant 365 Acquires Management Platform Compeat

Restaurant365, an all-in-one restaurant management platform, announced on June 10, 2021 the acquisition of Compeat, well-known in the industry for pioneering feature-rich restaurant back office, workforce and business intelligence software. The combined business will be led by Tony Smith, CEO of Restaurant365, and will serve over 28,000 restaurants. The acquisition extends Restaurant365’s leadership in the space and further enables its commitment to helping restaurants thrive.

According to Restaurant Dive, both companies provide similar solutions aimed at simplifying day-to-day operations, including accounting, inventory, scheduling, payroll and HR management. You can read more here

Some Restaurants Turn to Hiring Apps During Shortage

CNBC is reporting that, during the labor shortage because of COVID-19, restaurants are using hiring apps to hire new employees.

The pandemic gutted the hospitality industry, which shed 2.5 million jobs in 2020, the National Restaurant Association reported. Although restaurants have added jobs in 2021, the unemployment rate for restaurant workers is still above the national average. But despite the jobless rates in hospitality, many restaurants are still stretched to find workers.

El Pollo Loco Testing Drone Delivery Service

El Pollo Loco, the Mexican-style Quick Service Restaurant chain, partnered with drone operating company, Flytrex to go door-to-backyard delivery. Flytrex worked with a Starbucks in North Carolina, but this will be the first partnership for a QSR group.

According to Restaurant Dive, El Pollo Loco’s digital sales grew from 5% of total sales to 10% during 2020, and the company plans to increase its digital sales to over 30% in the next three years. You can read more here
